Big Lottery Grants help Belper groups to get into the Olympic spirit

Milford and Makeney Community Group and Cycling in the Community are among the latest winners of Big Lottery grants.
The grants, awarded by "The Big Lottery Fund" under the "Awards for All" category are as follows:
Milford and Makeney Community Group will receive £9,900 in order to install new children's equipment at the local play area.
Choose Cycling in the Community, based in Belper will use their £4,700 funding to deliver a campaign and website link to follow the Olympic Torch Relay.
This campaign will encourage older people to utilise cycling and walking as an environmentally friendly and healthier form of transport.
Also in Derbyshire, Stanley and Stanley Common Parish Council have been awarded £8,000 which they will use to install stepping logs and equipment surfacing for the installation of a trim trail at a recreation ground. This will modernise the space and provide facilities for beneficiaries to enjoy healthy activities and recreation.
Mid-Derbyshire MP Pauline Latham has welcomed the award £22,600 worth of grants to three organisations in her constituency, she said,
"I am thrilled these three local organisations have been awarded these grants, which they can use to promote an active way of life to people of all ages.
It is so important that all people – young and old – stay active, and lead healthy lifestyle. These grants will make a difference for many, many years, and will really ensure that we maintain the legacy of the Olympic Games this year"
