Events in Belper this July

June saw some great events in Belper including the historic celebrations for the Queens Jubilee  However, July promises to be the best month yet this year for events in the town and we have our fingers crossed for an end to the incessant rain we've had so far this summer.

On Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th, Belper Junior Musical Theatre present Mulan at Belper School, Ticket are £9 or for concessions £7

On Saturday 14th the ancient custom of Welldressing returns to the town, you'll be able to find 12 welldressings this year in the Belper River Gardens from 9am-7pm, and also on Saturday 14th, Belper Library  celebrate their 75th birthday with a garden party.

Further down the A6 on Saturday 14th the town of Ambergate hold their carnival, with this years theme being Stars and Characters of Film and TV.

Sunday the 15th sees the return of the popular Belper Food and Real Ale Festival, which draws in visitors and stalls from all over Derbyshire and which now incorporates the Craft Festival and Arts Trail.

This fantastic event takes over King Street, Belper Market Place, Memorial Gardens and Strutt Street for the whole day.

On Saturday 21st (from 11am), one of the biggest events in the town will be the Belper Games at Strutt's playing fields.

This charity event raises funds for Penny's Fund and has local teams taking part in an 'It's knockout' style challenges, and it will also feature a craft fair and food stalls.

On the 21st the Town also sees an open gardens day for Belper in preparation for the Britain in Bloom judging.

Sports

On Saturday 7th there are two local derby cricket games to look forward to in Belper, the 2nds are at Christchurch Meadow hosting Matlock's second team, whilst Belper Amateurs take on Duffield at the The Packhorse Ground in Alderwasley.

And Belper Town fans will be glad to see the Nailers back in action, on Saturday 21st June they play North Ferriby in a friendly at Christchurch Meadow (from 3pm) and on Saturday 28th they play local rivals Holbrook Sports at Shaw Lane.

Also on Saturday 28th fresh from his role as an Olympic torchbearer David Denton runs another of his popular races, with the Milford Summer Duathlon.
