What's on in Belper for the Queens Diamond Jubilee

The Queens Diamond Jubilee Bank holiday weekend is now only a few weeks away, and there are lots of events which have been organised in Belper to celebrate.

Belper is gearing up or the Queens Diamond Jubilee weekend.

Will you be hosting a street or garden party?
On Saturday 26th May there is a garden party at 57 Ripley Road, Heage which as well as celebrating the Queens Diamond Jubilee will also raise funds for Action medical research.
The garden party starts at 12.30pm and includes Jubilee themed fancy dress, a golf ball race and prize draw. Also cream teas, barbeque, bouncy castle, dance shows, penalty shoot out, cakes, plants, ferret racing and tombola, musical entertainment and raffle.
Also on Saturday, May 26th there is a special coffee n crafts event at Fresh Ground to make Jubilee themed items
Saturday 2nd June
On Saturday June 2nd, there is a Jubilee charity event at the Bulls Head Belper in aid of FHLTA, featuring a Hog Roast, Hobsons Choice Jazz Band, Rachel Delicata and Shirley Novak in the evening and a charity happy hour all day £2 for most drinks with the option to donate the difference to charity.
Also on Saturday June 2nd is the first of Belper Town Council's Jubilee events with a patriotic day in Belper's Memorial Gardens in King Street, Everyone is invited to join in the patriotic fancy dress theme and dress in red, white and blue and there will also be live music and children's entertainment.
The Black Swan in Belper Market place will be hosting a jubilee festival inside and outside the pub, servicing real ales and cider, with a food festival as well from 12pm to 9.
On the evening of Saturday, June 2nd there is a Last night of the Proms concert at St Peter's Church with two organists, Belper Wind Band, Bel Canto Choir and a soloist Tickets are now on sale at £5.00 each from St Peter's Church Office 01773 828772 and Belper Town Council Office.
Running from Saturday 22nd June all the way through Jubilee weekend are themed craft activities at Denby Pottery in their craftroom and Butterley Railway station have a Royal on Rails exhibition running from Saturday to Tuesday which will display some famous historical royal railway carriages.
Sunday 3rd June
On Sunday June 3rd, St Swithun's Church in Holbrook Road and St Mark's Church in Openwoodgate will be celebrating with Big Jubilee Lunches and there is a special edition of the council's Larks in the Park at Belper River Gardens featuring Belper Musical Theatre, the Derwent Brass band and the Dalesmen Male Voice Choir as well as children's games and stalls
Monday 4th June
On Monday June 4th there is a Diamond Jubilee Street Party at St Peter's Church, from 12pm – 3pm and a Teddy Bears picnic in the Memorial Gardens with a fancy dress theme from the period of your choice.
