Do not shop at BM for over 90 minutes or you will be fined £100.

We have just moved house and having been shopping lot at this BM in Belper. Two weeks we got a letter from parking eye(a self important quango ersatz debt collector) with their photo evidence saying that as we had stayed longer than 90 minutes in the car park we were had to pay a £100 fine. It did ask for documentary evidence to show that were were "legally"parked. So we sent out receipt that clearly shows from the time stamp that we had been shopping at BM. we left the car park five minutes after checking out. we sent a copy of our receipt with a covering letter to parking eye and presumed that the matter was closed. However this morning another letter from parking eye arrived saying"you have provided evidence of purchase. however please be advised that this does not meet the discretionary criteria set by the landowner in this case" what nonsense. what is this discretionary criteria and dont BM want customers to shop there for over 90 minutes? The letter then says "in order or PE to cancel this parking charge, we will need valid evidence indicating that you did not break the terms and conditions stipulated on the signage" what does that drivel mean. we are not paying this. first they ask for a receipt to prove why were there and then when we have that ask for further evidence without stipulating what evidence they require. this is extortion pure and simple. We have spend over £500 here recently and this is how they treat loyal customers My advice is that is you need to do a long shop at BM in belper then look elsewhere or you will get fined £100 irrespective of the fact that you have proved that you were legally parked. AVOID

Large homestore and garden supermarket in Belper

B&M are new to Belper having taken over the building which used to house Focus. Their shop is a large unit selling food, toys, garden equipment, household cleaning products, bedding and bathroom products and decorating materials like paints and wallpaper.

One thing I did notice bout the shop is the entrance where you have to go through and L-shape at the start, which is a bit frustrating if you just wanted to get to a particular department., and it was a bit crowded, but it was in its first week of operation, but this apart the shop is well laid out and has one or two bargains in it.

I particularly liked the garden centre, which was much better laid out that their predecessors Focus and the staff seemed genuinely helpful.
